User Reviews about Solo Leather Laptop Portfolio (Espresso)
When I turned 35 I decided I needed to stop traveling and coming in to work with a fabric backpack slung over my shoulder. I got this bag on a whim and think it's terrific. Plenty of room for your MacBook Pro and your doodads. It is extremely light and removing the shoulder strap to carry it like a briefcase is easy as pie.
However, I have had the bag for a few years now and it is starting to show signs of wear and tear. The metal rings that connect the straps on the top of the bag are held in place by screw-bolts. The bolts loosen up over time, and I have lost them twice and had to dig in my car for the screws. Replacing them with a trip to the store would be impossible.
Also, the metal "snaps" that hold the front flap closed end up being metal-on-metal. When you walk, they "click". They also vibrate against each other when the bag is sitting in your car. That can drive you nuts if you can't get to them.
But why am I complaining? The bag is extremely useful, stylish-yet-classic, and it beats a neon-orange fabric bag by Targus. -- A stylish bag for grown-ups
I bought this as a gift for my brother who's a med student. He absolutely loves it and says that it works perfectly for carrying around all of his necessities. He has a wide screen laptop which fits very nicely into the protective sleeve. Lots of pockets to keep track of the little things and roomy enough for files, paperwork, books, etc. The leather is a dark chocolate brown...a little more rugged than the standard black laptop bag/briefcase--perfect for my brother! -- Great Leather Bag
The look of this bag really appealed to me it is a really sharp looking bag. Functionality wise, I think they could have made some improvements without effecting the cost very much.
The buckles and straps for both the front and back compartments are mainly decorative, there is no way to adjust them without modifications. There is plenty of expansion room in the compartments themselves but if you put too much stuff in them the buckles won't snap, defeating the expansion of the compartments. I don't always need the extra room, but when I do need to stuff a few extra things in the bag it is nice to know it will be secure.
To remedy this problem I took the bag to a local cobbler and had him modify it. He added two holes to each of the front buckle straps and installed two magnetic clasps to the ends of the decorative straps on the rear of the bag. This allows both compartments to be secured when at full capacity. The price of the modification was $12 and makes the bag much more versatile and doesn't impact the look.
Other than that, I really like the bag. I'm finding it a bit difficult to organize all the various electronic gadgets I carry with me, but there would be no way to remedy that without making the bag more bulky and that would defeat its style. -- Good for the price but has a few issues.
I've had this laptop case for a little over a month and it is just as good as expected. Looks great. Has a nice soft leather feel to it. Plenty of compartments to keep what you need besides your laptop. I highly recommend it. -- Outstanding value
I originally bought a Solo Urban messenger style bag but replaced it with this leather bag -100% satisfaction!
beautiful look externally, plenty of room for paperwork, pens etc, very well lined and protected laptop section,
comfortable handle and shoulder strap - I thoroughly recommend this bag, it is the best I have seen anywhere. -- Perfect bag
